Muse Concert Bemuses Boston With Showmanship, Philosophy

Abstract:
On Saturday, March 6, British alternative rock band Muse stormed the stage of the Boston, Mass., TD Garden and played a set so phenomenal it almost dared the audience to leave unsatisfied. Judging by the vast number of audience members filing out of the arena after the encore singing bits of the band's more popular singles and raving about the spectacle they'd experienced for the last 90 minutes, I'm sure Muse kept up their end of the bargain....

Muse is incredible live. I was a little reluctant to see them in a huge stadium... but I was blown away, completely.

You're going to have a fantastic time. I can't wait till the next leg of their U.S. tour!

I have seen many great Bands in my life (Rush, Led Zeppelin, AeroSmith, SuperTramp etc) but the first time I saw Muse live it trumped them all even though they were virtually unknown and playing at our local station's music festival. I have seen them 3 more times since and every time has been the best.

This Band is amazing, maintain complete control of their music and performances in their contract with Warner and do a majority of the planning for their live shows. Rick Rubin came to produce their latest album and they kicked him to the curb and produced the Resistance themselves and it went on to debut as #1 in 20 different countries!

The best short description I have seen of Muse is a mix of Queen, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Yes which were each unarguably the greatest bands of my era but I have to say I think Muse is perhaps greater than their predecessors and are certainly the best band making music today and definently live up to their name.

Thank you for your great article, you really captured some of the feel at a Muse concert accurately. Well written!

I'm a little late, but this is a great review. Thanks. One small note, the song New Born was the first song played as they descended from the towers and finally hit the stage. Map of the Problematique was the fourth song of the set.

No, the opening song was definitely Uprising, that was the opener for the entire Resistance tour in the US. :) I know New Born came before MOTP, but the article was edited for content, unfortunately, so the text on that song was chopped. The full version of this article is about six hundred words longer than this, detailing the entire show, but there wasn't enough room in the paper itself. If you're interested in reading the entire uncut review, you can find it here: http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_muse/500898.html
